Posted: Updated:

Another carnival cruise ship is back in port after experiencing mechanical problems The Carnival Legend canceled two stops and arrived in Tampa Sunday after having issues with its propulsion system.

Jim Kuipers of Coventry was among those on board the crippled ship. The ship actually missed two of the four ports it was scheduled to visit.

Kuipers told NBC10 Carnival compensated passengers with a $100 credit and a 50 percent discount on a future cruise.

"They gave us $100 back but they kept us on the ship another day so I'm sure they made that money off of us in bars, casinos, and shopping," said Kuipers.

In the wake of a series of Carnival's problems, U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York now is calling for a Cruise Ship Bill of Rights to ensure passengers the ship will have backup power, sanitary conditions and medical staff.
