I-Team: Report reveals new details in officer's arrest

Posted: Updated:

After several requests from the I-Team, the full police report has been released on Pawtucket police Officer Stephen Ricco, who was arrested late last month on domestic violence charges.  A grainy black-and-white mug shot of the officer was included.

Ricco was charged with assaulting a woman he dated for 10 years. The full report reveals what the alleged victim told detectives.

The report says the woman "was crying and upset ... and said she was afraid of Ricco."

Investigators detail four incidents where Ricco allegedly made threats or became violent.

First, after a fight in August, "Ricco was angry and told her that he wanted to beat her like a man."

Then, a month later, the woman told Ricco she was pregnant with his child. The report says he demanded she get an abortion and that "when she told him she was not getting an abortion, Ricco became irate ... punching the inside of her car ... Ricco turned to her and pushed her in the chest area."

The victim in the police report isn't the only woman to come forward with accusations. A second woman whose identity NBC 10 concealed told her story to chief I-Team reporter Jim Taricani, saying she had sex with Ricco while he was on duty and in uniform. The second woman also said she had sex with Ricco inside his police cruiser, as well as at her home.

The police report from Ricco's recent arrest also outlines a frightening incident in September, involving the officer's gun.

"Ricco pulled out his service weapon, turned it around and while holding it by the slide portion, he told her to go ahead and kill him ... She indicated that she was scared ... She said that she thought she was going to die," the report said.

The I-Team called Ricco Friday evening for his response to the police report, but he didn't immediately return a message.

Pawtucket police tell NBC 10 Ricco remains on sick leave. He was the subject of an internal affairs investigation by the department. But because of the Police Officers' Bill of Rights, the department declined to comment on that case.
