CRANSTON, R.I. -
Gov. Lincoln Chafee said Friday he's learned of waste and fraud
in the state's Medicaid system, and that the fraud involves food stamps too.
Chafee told NBC 10 during a taping of "10 News
Conference" that he does not intend to tell the public about what he's
found and instead working on closing the gaps that allow cheating.
Chafee said his administration is in possession of a report
which was compiled for free by former candidate for governor, Ken Block.
Block said he's prohibited under his contract from revealing
what he found.
"We identified waste and fraud in numerous different
areas. I can't talk dollar amounts. That would violate my contract. I can't
talk about dollars," Block said.
Chafee said there's fraud, and he will speak with his
department directors about how to reduce it.
