William Barnette
A former top administrator at the Rhode Island Training School was acquitted Tuesday of a child abuse charge.
William Barnette III, of Cranston, was accused of heating a dinner fork over a gas stove and pressing into his 14-year-old son's shoulder. He was charged in January 2012.
A jury found Barnette not guilty of second-degree child abuse.
The Providence Journal reported that Barnette was fired from his job as a deputy superintendent at the Training School about a year ago.
His son now lives in another state.
