Parker Gavigan is an Associated Press award-winning journalist, and was named to the NBC 10 I-Team in January 2013.

Gavigan and the I-Team often spend their days working on stories that take longer to research and investigate but have significant results. Most recently, Gavigan exposed a questionable state beach contract awarded to a sitting state representative. In 2014, Gavigan was honored with a D. Tennant Bryan award for his surveillance and undercover work, which showed a town employee abusing his role as a manager while working on several of his own properties on town time.

Prior to joining NBC 10, Gavigan was an investigative reporter for WLNE. He received an Associated Press award for investigative reporting and was also honored by the AP for writing and producing a documentary about a Tall Ship voyage with Rhode Island students. Gavigan is a five-time New England Emmy nominee. Gavigan got his start in TV news at KNWA-TV in Fayetteville, Arkansas. While there, he broke several stories on police corruption and government waste.

Gavigan is originally from southeastern Massachusetts and graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a master's degree in journalism. He also attended the University of Tampa and Westminster University in London.

Gavigan lives in Rhode Island with his wife Doreen and daughter Grace. He also volunteers with Big Brothers of Rhode Island. If you have a story idea or something worth checking out, email Parker at pgavigan@wjar.com.
