PROVIDENCE -- Medical testimony given Friday in a murder trial was so graphic that two jurors were overcome with emotion.

An assistant medical examiner took the stand in the trial of Katherine Bunnell. The Woonsocket woman is accused in the 2004 beating death of her nephew, Thomas "T.J." Wright.

Bunnell kept her head down as assistant medical examiner Peter Gillespie described the autopsy results. The child's bruises, slap marks and broken bones were illustrated with photographs shown to the court.

Two jurors broke into tears.

T.J.'s mother and his grandmother were so overcome that they had to leave the courtroom.

Prosecutors said Bunnell beat the child because he had made a mess.

Wright and his siblings had been placed in Bunnell's care. She is charged with murder and conspiracy.

Bunnell's attorney has said Bunnell's boyfriend, Gilbert Delestre, is responsible for the child's death. Delestre will be tried separately.
