Providence – Rhode Island voters may have the opportunity to vote on Saturdays. Secretary of State Ralph Mollis has introduced a package of election reform bills that would give voters an additional day to cast their ballots. Municipalities would be required to open their polls on the Saturday before a Tuesday election.

The legislation comes from Mollis’ Voters First Advisory Commission, which held a series of public hearings and conducted nationwide research. The legislation also includes bills that would strengthen the no-canvassing zone around polling places.

The entire report will be released on the Secretary of State’s website on Tuesday.
