Baked BBQ Round Steak

(Serves 4)

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds round steak, about 1/2 inch thick, cut into serving sized pieces
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup chili sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
METHOD OF PREPARATION:
  1. Combine flour, seasoned salt, and 1/4 teaspoon pepper; pound into the steak.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in skillet over medium heat; add steaks and brown slowly.
  3. Place steaks in a baking dish.
  4. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over meat.
  5. Cover and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour, until tender. Uncover for the last 15 minutes of baking.
