CHARLIE HALL is the creative force behind the comedy cabaret that spoofs the state of Rhode Island, aptly named Ocean State Follies (now in its 17th year), and the annual Rhode Island Comedy Festival. He has performed as a stand-up comic on the "Joan Rivers Show," "Caroline's Comedy Hour," MTV, "Evening At the Improv," "America's Funniest People" and "Star Search '93," where he was a semi-finalist. Since the mid-80s, he has appeared as opening act for Rosie O'Donnell, Natalie Cole, Frankie Valli, Reba McIntire, Chicago and Jerry Seinfeld to name a few. The multi-talented RISD grad is also a TV court artist, award-winning political cartoonist, author of three books, and even co-penned the official state song, "Rhode Island's It For Me." His Web site is www.oceanstatefollies.com. |
DOREEN (COLLINS) VANACORE started her showbiz career at the tender age of 8 in front of 20,000 people with none other than Diana Ross and the Supremes. Not willing to share the limelight, Doreen and Miss Ross parted ways immediately after the performance. Since then, Doreen has been an active member in SAG, AFTRA, and AGVA and performed Off-Broadway, on television, film and radio. She's done stand-up, trade shows, singing telegrams and paid practical jokes. There is nothing that can embarrass this little woman, a fact obvious to anyone who has seen "BOOZICAL: The Muzical – The Unorganized Biography of Doreen Collins," her most recent one-woman show. A theater major at New York University (studying under Stella Adler), Doreen also received her cosmetology license from The Robert Fiance School of Cosmetology (NYC) -- neither of which has gotten her anywhere, validating why she is living in Rhode Island and has been working with Charlie Hall and the Ocean State Follies since the turn of the century. |
