Gene Valicenti

Gene Valicenti, the winner of four New England Emmy Awards, including two for anchoring, has been with WJAR for 15 years and continues to anchor the market-leading NBC 10 News at 5:30, 6 and 11.

In addition to his multiple Emmy wins and nominations, Gene also has been honored with a host of Associated Press, RTNDA and other industry citations, including a national Telly and New York Gold Festival award.

Gene has received the prestigious Red Cross Humanitarian Award for his outstanding service to the not-for-profit community, and he continues to work with many local charities on a host of events. He also serves on the Board of Incorporators for Kent County Hospital.

Readers of Rhode Island Monthly voted Gene "best reporter" for six years in a row and best male anchor for 2006.

He has moderated many political debates, covered three papal visits, and reported live from Ground Zero, the Pentagon and Cuba in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks.

A New Jersey native, Gene holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

He lives in Kent County with his wife and three daughters.
