Paul Giacobbe
The job of the NBC 10 ombudsman is to investigate complaints of unfairness, imbalance or inaccuracies in news reporting. His conclusions are his own. Paul Giacobbe is our NBC 10 Ombudsman.

About 100 newspapers in the country have an ombudsman, but no other local television stations. Specifically, Paul has been asked to respond to viewers who feel that a story is unfair or inaccurate. Paul has been given relatively broad powers to do that. He can interview the reporter or other station personnel, review tapes and scripts, and in some cases even discuss coverage with the subject of a news story. He will respond to every complaint and in many cases the response will be by letter. If the issue is significant, then he will respond with a report on the air.

You can e-mail Paul at pmgia@aol.com or write to him at Viewers' Voice, NBC 10, 23 Kenney Drive, Cranston, RI 02920. You can also call and leave a message at 1-800-TIP-WJAR.

The purpose of the Viewers' Voice program is to ensure fairness, accuracy and balance. If you believe there's a story that has failed to meet those standards, let him know.

Have a complaint about the fairness of a news story? Post a comment on Paul's blog.
