PROVIDENCE -- A security breach was reported at Roger Williams Medical Center.

Hospital officials said Dr. Satori Iwamoto, a skin cancer specialist, had a digital camera stolen from an outpatient area.

The pictures of at least three cancer patients in various stages of treatment were on the camera.

Each picture had the patient's name on it. A hospital spokesman said no personal information, such as Social Security numbers, dates of birth or insurance information, was included.

"All three patients have been contacted by the hospital. Roger Williams apologized to those affected by this theft," the hospital said in a statement.

The hospital said it has already taken steps to improve security so it doesn't happen again.

A friend of one of the patients told NBC 10 that he was extremely upset when he found out about his pictures being stolen.

The theft followed two recent security breaches at Rhode Island Hospital.

A security guard was arrested for stealing patient's personal identification, and a woman was accused of stealing blank prescription pads and illegally obtaining narcotics.
