BOSTON—Eight years before a Worcester teenager was charged with suffocating her infant son with a teddy bear, her baby brother was found dead while in her care.
Nga Thi Truong is being held without bail. Her son, Khyle Truong, died Sunday.
In 2000, police found her 3-month-old brother dead after they received an emergency call from the girl’s home. She was 8 years old at the time and had been baby-sitting the child.
Truong’s lawyer, Ed Ryan, said her brother’s death was ruled caused by sudden infant death syndrome and that there is no evidence the girl was involved.
Police said Truong, who turned 17 Wednesday, first told police she found her son unresponsive Sunday morning, but later said she suffocated him with a teddy bear.
