The arraignment of a former Jamestown councilman accused of murdering his wife in 1999 was postponed on Tuesday.
David Swain, 52, is accused of killing 46-year-old Shelley Tyre while scuba diving off the island of Tortola.
Authorities in the Carribean first ruled it an accident then later charged Swain with murder.
Swain was then extradited back to Tortola where he’s now awaiting trial.
The new charges came after a Rhode Island jury found Swain liable in a civil case in connection with Tyre’s death.
