CRANSTON, R.I.—What was thought to be a routine traffic stop for a Cranston patrol officer late Wednesday night turned into something much more serious.

According to investigators, as the officer approached the car on Dyer Avenue, the driver began speeding off and struck him. Investigators said the car continued to speed away from the scene after hitting the officer.

Police said the officer fired his gun at the car and, according to the police chief, injured two people.

They said a short time later, officers from Providence and the Rhode Island State Police responded to the area of Terrace Avenue in Providence, where the car and its occupants were located.

The officer and the suspects were taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the suspects and the officer involved have not been released.

At least one suspect is expected to face charges.  Cranston police said the officer involved in the shooting has not returned to work.

The Rhode Island State Police and the attorney general’s office are assisting Cranston police in the investigation.

No bones to pick…I have seen it, heard about it and have actually been asked to lie for them! I’m sure they are not all like that but quite a few are and yes, the Officer Jubinville is one of the bad ones! I actually witnessed him beating up a guy last year in hand cuffs. If I knew who he was I would have been a witness for him as I thought it was quite disturbing to see a guy already hand cuffed slammed around, punches kicked at beaten with baton by two officers. He had to leave in ambulance! You got a problem with the truth? Sorry but this is my opinion of Cranston’s finest and I am not alone!

I always find it interesting when people who have no proof, intellect or basis for their accusations throw aroud such outrageous allegations.  The Cranston PD have always treated me well and I have never observed any conduct that Caprio123 indicates.  Using names of hard-working officers and alleging department wide drug money theft have no basis at all.  Secondly, using words like “witnesses”, when it does not even fit into the context of your sentence makes you look all the more phony.  Admit you were caught doing something wrong and have a bone to pick with Cranston’s finest.

The Cranston police are so corrupt it is rather hard to believe the officer. The Cranston police seem to think that it is ok to lie. I am sure there is more to the story. Half the drug arrests involve money and Cranston’s finest has been taking drug money from suspects and pocketing it for at least since I can remember. Others like Officer Jubinville are crooked and like to beat up suspects. I witnesses him beating up a handcuffed guy only a year ago on my street! I certainly am not on the side of the criminals but in the case of Cranston police it is hard to tell which is which!
