CRANSTON, R.I. —Kent Hospital has received a $100,000 gift toward its $2.8 million capital campaign for a new heart center.

The Coastway Cares Charitable Foundation gift announced Tuesday is one of the largest donations the hospital has received since it launched the fundraising campaign about a year ago.

Liz Zima, a senior philanthropy officer with the Kent Hospital Foundation, says more than $1 million has already been raised. The goal is to open a heart center next year to give residents in the central and southern parts of Rhode Island access to emergency angioplasty services.

The Coastway Cares Charitable Foundation is supported and managed by employees of Coastway Credit Union.
