CRANSTON, R.I. - Republican Allan Fung is Rhode Island’s first Asian-American mayor.
Fung, 38, takes over executive control of Cranston, the state’s third-largest city, from Democrat Michael Napolitano.
Fung is a former City Council member who won 63 percent of the vote in November over fellow democrat Cindy Fogarty. Napolitano did not seek reelection after serving one two-year term.
Fung was sworn in Monday evening at Cranston High School East.
