CUMBERLAND, R.I.—Investigators are looking into two fires that broke out within minutes of each other in Cumberland.
The first fire hit Roberta’s Hair Salon on Mendon Road at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. The building was destroyed.
A few minutes later, another fire was reported just down the road at Everybody’s Favorite Family Restaurant. The owner of the restaurant said vandals broke in the back door and made a mess before starting the fire.
The fire was limited to the kitchen area, and workers were cleaning up Wednesday. The owner said he plans to reopen.
Both buildings were vacant at the time.
Police said both fires are considered suspicious.
