THOMPSON, Conn.—An East Providence woman will be arraigned Monday on manslaughter charges following a fatal pedestrian accident in Thompson, Conn.

Connecticut state police say Julie Sussman, 38, was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when she struck and killed an elderly pedestrian with her motorcycle Saturday night.

Troopers say Louisa Solitro, 77, of Worcester, Mass., was hit while trying to cross East Thompson Road in rain and fog. She was pronounced dead at Hubbard Hospital in Webster, Mass.

Sussman is charged with DUI and second-degree manslaughter while driving under the influence. Police say she was not injured.

State police say Sussman became violent when they talked with her and damaged state property. She’s being held on a $50,000 bond and is to be arraigned Monday in Danielson Superior Court.
